Info: Norman KITZ (born Norbert KITZ) was a British engineer and computer pioneer who played a crucial role in the evolution of office technology.

The SEC Computer: In the late 1940s, while studying at Birkbeck College under the guidance of Andrew Booth, Kitz designed and built the Simple Electronic Computer (SEC).
This was one of the earliest examples of a digital computer.
The ANITA Calculator: His most famous achievement came in 1961 with the launch of the ANITA (A New Inspiration To Arithmetic).
Developed for the BELL PUNCH Company, it was the world’s first all-electronic commericial desktop calculator.

Before the ANITA, calculators were heavy mechanical machines with gears and levers.
KITZ’s design used vacuum tubes and cold-cathode tubes,
making the calculation process silent and near-instantaneous.

KITZ is often credited with proving that electronic components could reliably replace mechanical ones in a portable format.
His work paved the way for the digital revolution in business long before the invention of the modern microprocessor.
